    Σταύρος Χριστοδουλάκης Πληροφορίες Έργου Περιγραφή Έργου NET QUALITY project proposes to promote the use of new management organisation and marketing techniques for SMEs in the Tourism sector SMTEs More generally it proposes to promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge in the target sector The starting point of Net Quality project is the full agreement with the basic premises of the Call for proposal for projects in the field of training and related support services for small and medium sized enterprises for the tourism sector need of promotion of innovative management techniques and methods of work organisation in micro enterprises namely that there is crucial innovation need of SMEs in management and organisation In order to realise this it will follow the steps below to analyse the current situation in the tourism sector to identify the key training needs for SMTEs to identify IT based best practices in advanced management and organisation techniques to develop the necessary IT tools for the desired SMTE internal applications and best practices to develop and field test innovative training modules for transferring those best practices and tools to SMTEs to accustom training institution and personnel to those training modules and SMTE needs to use networks to disseminate best practice and training modules along with info on training organisations The strategic response to this situation is divided essentially into two areas of action which will be supported by the objectives of the Call to establish a platform of awareness and information among individual tourism SMEs to enable them to take advantage of the emerging new electronic distribution channels to facilitate the development and enhancement of the ability of SMTEs to distribute quality information to tourism customers though the public electronic network so that individually or collaboratively they can compete effectively in the new marketplace The

    filtered by the direct experience of the visitors that act as a reporters promoters Objectives People living in Historical Cities of Arts and Culture e g Venezia Florence Delphi etc risk to be foreigners within their own cities they must share their cultural resources e g museums libraries etc their public utilities as well as the places in which they meet and socialise e g streets squares restaurants bars etc with visitors from other countries and they may feel that the territory of their community is occupied by foreigners Moreover the new events organised within these cities are directed to tourists and not to the people living there in fact local people do not have any priority in participating in these events and they rarely contribute to their organisation There is the risk that folk events with ancient tradition such as the Carnival or the Historical Regatta in Venezia could be more and more ignored by the local people In some cases the local community of historical cities also see the strangers as people that contaminates their culture using and ruining their properties like undesirable persons within their own house On the other hand the visitors accessing only the most visible and renowned resources the most famous museums or known parts of the city gain only a superficial understanding of the local culture They have often only a commercial relation with the local community We believe that this negative trend characterising the interaction between local people and tourists could be reversed creating new meeting places and revitalising social roles developing strategies and support for the transformation of foreigners into guests The Campiello project aims to experiment the use of innovative ICT to develop new links between the local communities and the visitors of the Historical Cities of Art and Culture Two cities have been chosen as context of the experiment Venezia in Italy and Chania in Crete Greece Venezia and Chania on the one hand share some features that allow to develop the experiment in an integrated way they have antique linkages and they have similar antique urban structures on the other exhibit differences making the two experiments individually interesting Venezia is a small metropolis while Chania is a small town Venezia needs for a regulation of the tourist invasion while Chania still can increase the number of tourists visiting it Structure and Functionality of the CAMPIELLO system Campiello will realise an heterogeneous multimedia multi interfaces network The project will develop a system to support the information flow and the processes between the different actors involved within a defined physical environment appropriate interaction paradigms adapted to the specific users content and physical environment of Historical Cities of Art and Culture The Actors Involved Figure 1 The actors involved The actors involved in the process of exchange and building of knowledge in the local context are the local community people living within the territory of Historical Cities of Arts and Culture and their existing aggregates schools cultural associations the cultural managers

    results of research and development programmes so as to assist improve the continuing vocational training in Orthodontics and let it adapt to future anticipated training and qualification needs The project is bound to accomplish its aims by fostering links among field leaders pro eminent among them being the World Health Organization in the context of co operation between university orthodontic departments 2 multimedia systems experts 2 university 1 research centres 2 enterprises social partners at community level 1 and SMEs 4 associations of professionals in continuing vocational orthodontic training in Europe Complementing an already accepted Socrates project ORTHODL this Leonardo project offers a unique opportunity to link in an innovative way different areas of training i e initial training Socrates and continuing vocational training The project will assist establish a European information network for orthodontists by first ramification and consolidation of existing human networks and by dissemination of good practice concerning the production use and distribution of systems which facilitate the use of multimedia materials in vocational training including evaluation results In addition it will support the development of innovative educational software to facilitate virtual mobility initiatives as teleworking as well as alternative forms of work organisation Innovative evaluation techniques will monitor the progress of the project on a regular low cost basis Direct dissemination of early and final project outcomes will provide essential support to launch two concurrent Leonardo pilot projects ORTHO ICON ORTHO MIT and subsequently the fully blown applications that will emerge from them in the form of multiplier effect projects Further dissemination of the results will be made with assistance of the Association for Dental Education in Europe Apart from specialists in Orthodontics general dental practitioners university teachers and community health administrators are among the beneficiaries of the project Early provision is made to make the

    from paper to electronic format and by the growing trend towards interactive services delivering news according to the needs of each end user The two major goals of the project are to Demonstrate and integrate the ability of advanced multimedia technology to improve flexibility efficiency and quality in the domain of news on demand Demonstrate and assess the market applicability acceptability of the news on demand service through the involvement of real industry players The approach is based on adapting existing software modules to create an appropriate environment for the demonstration of a news on demand application The project is concentrating on defining a news document structure and on filtering mechanisms to support news delivery according to specific user needs The application will make use of modules such as authoring tools multimedia information servers viewers and browsing tools Interaction between the various tools and the consistency of the various multimedia news fileservers will be based on a standardised document structure The project will adopt emerging hypermedia document standards primarily the MHEG standard in order to derive this structure Delivery over existing telecommunications and computing infrastructures will require support for HTML hypermedia documents All management mechanisms required for meeting service provider or end user requirements will be based on information contained in the common document structure End user interests will be categorised in terms of user profiles determined by user requirements End user interfaces will support the definition of these user profiles and the activation of filtering mechanisms at the news fileservers Field trials of the system will be carried out with news producers and consumers in two countries Greece and Italy to provide an effective demonstration in two different markets The experience gained from these field trials will provide further insight into market needs and expectations and into appropriate strategies
