    or from other prisons to detention We also want the detention room to be only for the prisoners who act illegal inside the prison but to have better living conditions That is beds hot water more toilets and in general to be treated like people and not like dogs This moment that I am writing 15 30 we have collected up to 80 signatures and we continue The prison living conditions can be described at least inhuman But the detention room this special place as it is named by the internal prison regulation is crushing We live in 12m cells the police administration puts even 8 people in such a cell without heating without oxygen without hot water with lots of germs and a tremendous amount of humidity We have one and only toilet outside the cells that is been watched by a camera In general the living conditions are horrendous and many prisoners are willing to testify Each newcomer that suffers from the narcotic addiction syndrome must spend 3 nights in detention with the poor pharmaceutical treatment of the prison 1 stedon 3 times per day 1 vulbecal at night The prison management doesn t care about how severe is the narcotic addiction syndrome in each prisoner plus the 3 nights in detention can last much more if the prisoner does not bowel 8 times watched by some officer It is almost impossible for a drug addict to eat or drink after the mistreatment she had in the police department when she was caught and especially the completely wrong food for her illness that Korydallos prison provides This is why most of the prisoners drink the Dulcolax syrup that causes diarrhea in order to prevent staying more that 3 nights in detention because if a prisoner does not complete

    Iraq Afghanistan Turkey and Sri Lanka The immigrants were moved to the old hospital of Pyrgos where they were temporarily lodged Reportage Without Frontiers attempted to visit the place the immigrants were held and aimed to speak with them and write down their personal stories The entrance was not permitted to the crew of Reportage Without Frontiers even though in the beginning the people in charge had not referred to any problems We were only able to take two 5minutes interviews from two in the total of 302 immigrants Those in charge informed us that ELAS Greek Police forbid the entrance to television crews official document follows In a following demand of Reportage Without Frontiers to the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the permission of the crew to the Pyrgos hospital in order to take interviews of the immigrants in detention the people in charge behind time answered that they do not agree with immigrants interviewing that we do not represent an organization and finally regarding to ELAS security reasons According to NGOs that attended Pyrgos hospital among the 302 immigrants there are 49 children 213 male immigrants that traveled alone are held in the first floor of the building a very small area that is not only unhealthy but also dangerous for possible conflicts The prisoners are not allowed to go outside the building and the hygiene facilities are rudimentary The present is a period where there are numbers of accusations from NGOs and other organizations regarding Iraqi immigrants deportations from Greece to Turkey and other neighbor countries This attitude of the Greek Ministry of Internal Affairs is rather incompatible with the international migrants legislation and the preservation of immigrants human rights It also raises questions regarding the freedom of Press in Greece P S In a 16 NGO
